Form and Style:
Mr Bennett, the male teacher in the film is more centred in the frame than the woman coach, which stereotypes the man and tells us that he is more important. The woman is wearing a sari which is a representation of her Hindu heritage and the culture she comes from. The coaches being closer to the camera and the footballers being out of focus slightly represents their importance to the storyline and how they have power over the footballers because they tell them what to do. In the second frame the footballers are in focus which makes the audience pay attention to them and what they are having a conversation about. In contrast to the lower class run down area they live in the lighting is high - key and bright, this gives a connotation of hope/ friendship.
Conventions:
In the background of the shot there is a tower block, the iconography is of a run down working class area with not much potential and less opportunities. There are gender issues as the football players are all male and they do not seem to pay much attention to the female coach. In the second frame there are gender issues as all the players are male, this is a stereotype as it suggests only males are good at football not females. The style of the frame is that the black character is always centred in the frame, also the team and the cast of the film is mostly white and so the audience pay more attention to the black character.
Form and Style:
In the first frame Mr Bennett is out of focus showing that he is oblivious to the fact that the players are making fun of him. This is stereotypical of teenagers, they are rude to their teachers and it is mostly the males that make fun of adults. In the second frame low - key lighting is shown to connote sadness and loneliness of the character standing by himself, also the red football shirts connote anger and the passion they have for football.
Conventions:
There are status issues within the film as the younger, lower status boys are making fun of the coach who is of a higher status. There is iconography of the gritty, run down housing that is of a low economic status that is out of focus to show the type of area they are practising in and that this is the best they can get.
